MEET JOSEPHINE

Before anything else, I'm a mum. Two girls, three and five, and they are my whole drive and the reason behind every late night.

I'm the friend in the group with the big, crazy ideas, the one who can pull an entire business structure together in a week and have it all colour coded that same night, and I'm equally the one standing in the pantry with the door wide open and absolutely no memory of why I went in there in the first place.

I learnt a great deal about myself after being diagnosed with ADHD in 2026, and honestly, so much of my life made sense afterwards.

I worked in construction for nine years, with a candle business on the side that turned into stationery, then signage, then my other brand, The Design Planner. Nine years of events have followed, which I still run alongside this one, because the juggle hasn't quite finished yet.

So yes, ambitious, and probably sometimes a little too ambitious. I'm humble, personable and kind, sometimes too kind for my own good, and I'll always look for the middle ground before anything else. What I really want is quite simple, and probably what most mums reading this want too, which is to spend as much quality time with my family as I possibly can, doing the things I love with the people I love.

The real magic was never about the mat.
It was in the conversations that happened around it.

How the brand came about

The idea was born in 2019, at a corporate event for a luxury watch brand. I'd designed a large floor colouring mat for it, and it captivated everyone in the room, kids and adults. That was the moment I knew there was something here, something simple and open ended that could hold attention in a way screens and "educational" toys couldn't.

When I looked at what already existed, I saw a gap.

Nothing beautifully designed and personalised that spoke to kids and helped the parents at the same time. Most products were one or the other. And nothing was built to last, it was all single use, here today and in the bin tomorrow.

Inclusivity wasn't even on the radar.

Wonderium World exists to close that gap.

A safe, beautiful, screen free space for kids to create, and a real moment of peace for the parents watching them do it.

And I'm not stopping at lounge room floors. The dream is to see these in early learning centres and classrooms right across Australia, so that as many children as possible get a space to create, play, explore and be included, wherever they spend their days.

Wonder is worth protecting

"I'm not selling educational products. I'm selling moments of wonder, calm and meaningful connection in a world that feels increasingly rushed, noisy and digital."
